We have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Engineer - Offshore to join our team of engineers in Shanghai, China and be part of the ABL Group

What will you be doing?

As a Junior Engineer - Offshore, you will work as part of a team, supporting and performing duties pertaining to the Business line in the region. Work within a team of engineers and be responsible for the planning, verifying and execution of projects. In addition, you will:

  • Assist with preparation of proposals for bids and tender inputs. 
  • Prepare as required and assist with engineering design, calculations and analysis for designs of various naval architectural elements about the project by international codes and standards.
  • Assist (as assigned by the manager or project lead) to accomplish the overall delivery of optimum solutions to customers within the timeframe, costs and quality standards established by ABL Group and/or the Client.
  • Attend regular internal meetings and external/third-party meetings as required.
  • Participate in engineering-related reviews and audits.
  • Take part in Technical and Procedural Reviews and Study Reports covering Projects as well as Site attendance.
  • Contribute to the continual development of the Business Lines offered in the region.
  • Assist with the conduct of Technical Projects and Assurance Projects.
  • Assist with the preparation of tenders and proposals for services and other related projects.
  • Ensure all operations are conducted in full compliance with approved instructions, procedures and policies.
  • Assist and/or lead projects (as assigned by the Manager) to accomplish the overall delivery for optimum solutions to Customers with the timeframe, costs and quality standards established by the company and/or the Client.
  • Responsible for delivery of quality documents within a timeline established by Management and Client.
  • Liaise with Clients to ensure project completion and customer satisfaction.
  • And other duties as assigned. 

The role is primarily office-based, but requirement for onsite attendance and time with clients and the ability to work remotely as required, with flexibility in working hours. The candidate should have the right to live and work in Shanghai, China.

What are we looking for?

We seek a motivated, solution-focused professional with strong technical skills and exceptional decision-making abilities. Ideal candidates will possess excellent communication, and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to manage multiple tasks effectively. Additionally, you will:

  • Degree qualification in Engineering or equivalent with significant related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 2+ years of relevant professional experience. 
  • Proficiency in English and  Mandarin is mandatory.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of industry standards and codes and the ability to apply standards
  • Basic knowledge of Naval Architecture and Offshore Engineering.
  • Familiar with industry standards and codes, and the ability to apply standards to structural analysis & designs.
  • Strategic visionary with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment and strong operational focus
  • Strong people and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of Naval Architecture and Offshore Engineering analysis and computer programs design.
  • Strong people and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated, energetic and engaging.
  • Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
