The Head of Submarine Cables will be responsible for overseeing all cable Transport & Installation (T&I) advisory for OWC’s offshore renewables and interconnector projects. You will provide expert analysis and advice relating to, but not limited to, cable routing analysis, cable route installation feasibility, and cable system transport and installation. You will work closely with OWC’s electrical team, OWC’s geoscience team, and other departments within the wider organisation including ABL and Longitude.
What will you be doing?
- Lead OWC’s Cable T&I Advisory Team worldwide and contribute to our mission of accelerating the global transition to sustainable renewable energy.
- Provide technical expertise on submarine cable systems T&I, including cable routing, installation, and maintenance, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Develop and implement the overall cable strategy for offshore renewables and interconnector projects.
- Lead and manage cable-related activities across various projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and according to quality standards.
- Support services and project roles across areas such as cable package management, desktop studies, technical advisory, and owner's engineering
- Manage and build upon the team as required. Additionally, provide training and support career development for the team.
- Provide motivational leadership for all operational / technical and administrative functions.
- Maintain and develop new and existing clients through prospection and relevant liaison to optimize quality of service, business growth and client satisfaction.
- Lead and support proposals with cable planning and T&I elements.
- Expand services capability within the service line and position OWC at the forefront of technical excellence.
- Implement and continuously improve work processes to deliver excellence.
- Maintain a good working relationship with other departments within OWC, ABL and Longitude, and partners and subcontractors.
What are we looking for?
Ideally, you will have worked as an Engineer on the transportation and installation of submarine cables or similar. Your background could be in a technical area such as Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Geoscience. More specifically, we are looking for the following:
- At least 10 years’ worth of relevant industry experience.
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience in cable route engineering procedures and feasibility desk top studies.
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience in cable landing techniques (HDD and open cut trenching), cable burial and protection, and on cable transport and installation engineering.
- Proven experience of working within the consultancy space.
- Proven people management experience.
- Experience with business development and tendering processes.
- Fluent in English and Polish.
Further Information:
This position can be based at either our Warszawa or Gdansk. You must have the right to live and work in Poland.
The job holder will be expected to travel to site and undertake client assignments at short notice.
