You will undertake vessel surveys and provide a diverse range of maritime consultancy services to our clients. You could be performing surveys on a range of ships, such as offshore, passenger, or cargo vessels. This could include Dynamic Positioning studies, condition, suitability, on / off hire surveys, and much more. The job holder will be expected to travel to locations across the state of Louisiana, potentially at short notice.

What will you be doing?

  • Ensure that our client’s vessels comply with relevant international and local regulations, industry standards, and company policies. This includes reviewing documents, equipment specifications, and procedures.    
  • Conduct Marine Assurance, Dynamic Positioning projects, and other surveys and assignments.
  • Ensure all operations, deliverables and quality of reports are in accordance with approved instructions, and ABL procedures and policies.    
  • Undertake business development activities with a view to promoting our Marine Assurance and Dynamic Positioning services to local clients.
  • Responsible for delivery of quality documents within a timeline established by management and client.   
  • Ensure compliance with ABL Group’s QHSE policies, manuals, procedures, work systems and regulations at ABL premises and client sites.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a certified Master Mariner (STCW II/2) or Chief Engineer (STCW III/2) with at least 5 years’ experience within the Offshore or Maritime sectors. This position is suitable for an experienced Surveyor or someone who is looking to transition into a shore-based position. We are also looking for the following:

  • Expecting of conducting thorough inspections of vessels, offshore structures, equipment, and procedures.
  • Several years of experience with DP systems, including both offshore operations and DP system assessments.
  • Knowledge of maritime regulations and industry standards. 
  • IMCA recognized CMID, OCIMF OVID, or SOMWS accreditation is desirable. 
  • A DP maintenance certification from one of the major manufacturers is beneficial.

Further Information:

This position will be based in the state of Louisiana. We offer remote working. 

You must have the right to live and work in the United States.  

The job holder will be expected to undertake onshore and offshore client assignments.
