This internship will contribute to a team that creates and evaluates wind turbine models. We run numerical simulations to calculate the loads of wind turbines, from which the data is then used to design the components or foundations for a wind turbine. You will work on the development and optimization of a control tuning toolchain that will help us to perform load assessments tests for the design of wind turbine components. 

What will you be doing?

  • Contribute to the development of the toolchain.
  • Use representative case studies to test the potential of existing tools.
  • Propose plans and processes for the adopting the use of the toolchain. 
  • Prepare a user guide describing the process to follow with the new toolchain.
  • Provide updates on progress, results and conclusions during team meetings. 
  • Maintain clear, consistent versioning of tools and associated code documentation.

What are we looking for?

  • A final year master’s student studying Mathematics or a subject relevant to the renewable energy sector. 
  • Fluent in English. 
  • Experience of using programming tools such as Python. Knowledge of tools such as OpenFAST, Linux and NREL tool suites, or similar, is beneficial.  
  • Knowledge of solid and fluid mechanics and wind turbines is beneficial. 
  • An interest in the renewable energy sector. 

Further Information:

This internship will be based at our office in Nantes. You must have the legal right to live and work in France. We are unable to provide relocation or visa support for this position. 

The internship will last up to 6 months and is suitable for a master’s student who needs to complete an internship as part of their course.
