You will support metocean analysis for marine renewable projects, applying state‑of‑the‑art numerical and statistical methodologies to deliver high‑quality technical studies. Providing insight from the seabed to the surface, your findings will help to guide our clients’ design activities.
What will you be doing?
- Contribute to various oceanographic and Metocean analysis tasks, including Extreme Value Analysis, joint statistics, and validation of datasets.
- Support the development of metocean site survey strategies and lead quality assurance processes associated to collected metocean data.
- Undertake analytical work and maintain and check spreadsheets and databases.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of scientific development, industry trends, and standards related to offshore metocean analysis.
- Assist, and where appropriate lead, in the preparation and review of technical inputs for projects, including those in development and construction stages.
- Participate in research and development projects, which may involve creating innovative engineering tools and solutions and scientific publications.
- Develop professional communication through presentation of project work internally and to clients.
- Participate in conferences and further active involvement in the professional community.
- Comply with ABL Group’s QHSE policies and procedures at ABL premises and client sites.
What are we looking for?
- Educated to master’s level in Oceanography or equivalent technical discipline. You will also have a background in applied statistics.
- At least 5 years of experience working as a metocean consultant or equivalent position in an engineering renewables consultancy with projects.
- Ability to apply statistical analysis to datasets to provide metocean design criteria.
- Ability to code in Python and other scientific programming language (e.,g Matlab, R).
- Knowledge of the development, construction and operational phases of offshore renewable energy projects is beneficial.
- Metocean modelling experience (Delft3D), knowledge of metocean instrumentation (Lidar systems, FLS, ADCP, wave buoys), and experience of modelling typhoons is desirable.

This position can be based in our Hamburg office or any of our UK offices.
You must have the right to live and work in Germany or the UK.
The job holder will be expected to undertake onshore and offshore client assignments.
