Working as a core member of our ABL France team, you will play a key role in the growth and development of our Maritime business in France. Using your knowledge of the French maritime market, you will help us to find new clients and help to establish ABL Group as a first-choice service provider for marine assurance work. You will also undertake chargeable work by conducting vessel surveys.
What will you be doing?
- Attend casualty investigations, assess damage, determine causes, and estimate repair costs.
- Oversee and conduct surveying operations, coordinating inspectors and consultants when necessary.
- Prepare detailed reports for clients, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
- Manage project documentation, reviewing and notifying relevant stakeholders of key findings.
- Drive business development efforts in France, promoting engineering consulting services locally and internationally.
- Develop and execute a business plan targeting the local market, with a strategic vision for growth.
- Support marketing initiatives to enhance visibility and growth of the business line.
- Maintain a billable utilization rate above 60%, ensuring effective time management.
- Uphold Quality & HSE responsibilities, promoting compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
What are we looking for?
Ideally, you will be a qualified Chief Engineer (STCW III/2) with proven surveying and consultancy experience or possess an equivalent combination of education and experience. We would also like to hear from Master Mariners with a similar background. More specifically, we are looking for the following:
- Minimum 7 years of relevant professional experience in the Maritime industry.
- Strong understanding of industry standards and codes, with the ability to apply them effectively.
- In-depth knowledge of the French maritime market and client base.
- Experience of working with P&I clubs, undertaking H&M surveys, and providing consultancy to Ports & Harbours is desirable.
Further Information:
The role is based at our office in Paris (21, Rue de la Fontaine au Roi, 75011), and you must have the legal right to work and reside in France.
While this position is office-based and we offer hybrid working, we are also keen to hear from candidates who live outside the Ile de France and can regularly visit our office.
You must be ready and willing to travel at short notice to onshore or offshore assignments locally or globally.
