Working as a core member of our ABL Norway team, you will undertake Marine Warranty Surveys (MWS) on offshore vessels for our clients in the energy sector. This could include loadouts, sail-aways, towage and transportation approvals. You will be partnering with clients in Norway and across Scandinavia and helping to establish ABL Group as the number one maritime survey provider for the region. 

What will you be doing?

  • Undertake MWS surveys such as loadouts, sail-aways, towage and transportation approvals for our clients in the energy sector.
  • Attend casualty investigations, assess damage, determine causes, and estimate repair costs.
  • Prepare detailed reports for clients, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
  • Manage project documentation, reviewing and notifying relevant stakeholders of key findings.
  • Provide monthly planning & activity reports on project developments.
  • Contribute to the retention, growth, and development of our client base in Norway and Scandinavia. 
  • Support marketing initiatives to enhance visibility with Scandinavian H&M and P&I Underwriters and Brokers.
  • Cross-sell other ABL Group services provided by our other businesses to our clients where possible. 
  • Maintain a chargeability rate of 70 – 80%. 
  • Uphold Quality & HSE responsibilities, promoting compliance with company policies and industry regulations.

What are we looking for?

Ideally, you will be a qualified Master Mariner or Chief Engineer (STCW III/2) with a proven sea-going background. It is desirable if you have consultancy or surveying experience, but we can provide training in these areas. More specifically, we are looking for the following:

  • 10 years’ worth of seagoing experience sailing in a senior rank position such as Master Mariner or Chief Engineer. 
  • At least 5 years of shoreside and / or business experience at a similar level.
  • Experience of working with P&I clubs and undertaking H&M surveys is desirable. 
  • Previous experience in maritime consultancy or associated field (e.g, salvage, harbour master, marine pilot etc.) is beneficial. 
  • Accurate reporting and the ability to deliver high-quality work on time.

This position will be based at our office in Stavanger, Norway. You must have the legal right to live and work in Norway.
