Working as a core member of our ABL Egypt team, you will work on the engineering design of pipeline systems, both offshore and onshore, for our clients in the oil and gas sector. 

What will you be doing?

  • Assist and / or lead pipeline design projects and documents and deliver them in accordance with agreed timeframes, costs, and quality standards. 
  • Prepare as required, and assist with, technical inputs on projects and work on interfaces, with increased responsibility and complexity.
  • Review pipeline designs and ensure they are compliant with project specifications and the scope of work. 
  • Undertake complex analytical work such as creating and maintaining advanced spreadsheets and databases.
  • Take part in technical and procedural reviews and study reports covering projects.
  • Work with other disciplines to share pipeline loads to civil disciplines and riser loads to structural / piping disciplines and coordinate on technical queries.
  • Liaise with Clients to ensure project completion and customer satisfaction.
  • Assist with the preparation of tenders and proposals for services and other related projects.
  • Contribute to the continual development of the business lines offered in the region.
  • Undertake client site visits as and when required. 
  • Always comply with the company QHSE policies, manuals, procedures, work systems and regulations at ABL premises, projects, and client sites.

What are we looking for?

You will possess proven experience in designing pipelines for the Oil and Gas sector and be conversant with the relevant engineering principles and industry standards. More specifically, we are looking for the following:

  • Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with significant related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience with at least 7 years of pipeline design & engineering experience with engineering / consultancy firms.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of industry standards and codes and the ability to apply standards.
  • Ability to undertake Finite Element Analysis (FEA) expertise in pipeline walking and to understand instability in curved sections. 
  • Proficiency in relevant pipeline engineering software such as but not limited to Sage-profile, AGA-PRCI, AutoPIPE, VIVSIM, Stable-Line, FatFree, OFFPIPE, OrcaFlex, etc. 
  • Ability to develop pipeline engineering reportsand guide draftsmen to develop pipeline drawings and details, such as:
    1. Basis of design.
    2. Wall thickness selection.
    3. On-bottom stability.
    4. Bottom roughness.
    5. Dynamic span analysis & fatigue screening.
    6. Riser & tie-in spools design.
    7. Global buckling (lateral & upheaval).
    8. Crossing design.
    9. Alignment sheets, spools and risers.
    10. Layouts, and crossing details.
    11. Pipeline specifications, material take-offs & material requisitions.
    12. Procurements support (vendor prints review and technical evaluations).

This position will be based at our office in Cairo, Egypt. You must have the legal right to live and work in Egypt. We offer hybrid working.
