Working as a core member of our structural engineering team, you will work on the design of structures for our clients in the offshore energy and maritime sectors. 

What will you be doing?

  • Undertake structural Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of marine structures such as deck equipment, sea-fastening designs, and more. 
  • Undertake structural engineering using first principles and a spreadsheet approach and undertake technical consultancy work as required.
  • Develop existing and new technical competencies in alignment with the business needs.
  • Perform day-to-day client management activities with existing clients through established relationships.
  • Undertake project planning, invoicing, and cash collection activities.
  • Partake in activities to promote the business and develop new clients.
  • Manage assigned projects in terms of safety, quality, schedule, and resources. Ensure compliance with the HSEQ management systems.
  • Communicate resource needs to the Office Manager / director to deliver assigned projects to quality, cost, and schedule. 
  • Identify your own and the team’s training requirements to develop technical competence in accordance with the Company’s needs.
  • Willing to travel to provide support to teams in other locations both within the UK and overseas. 

What are we looking for?

Ideally, you will be a Structural Engineer who has proven Finite Element Analysis experience. A background of working in the marine (preferably with ship structures) and energy sectors is advantageous but non-essential. More specifically, we are looking for the following things:

  • Educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline. A background in Naval Architecture, Marine or Civil Structure Engineering is advantageous. 
  • Possess 2-3 years of experience using Finite Element Analysis.  
  • A master’s degree and Chartered status is beneficial.

The role can be based in any of our UK offices (London, Southampton, Exeter, Newcastle, Dundee). You must have the legal right to work and reside in the United Kingdom. We offer hybrid working and expect the job holder to attend an office three days a week.
